One of the best meals during our trip to Japan. Fantastic Japanese food, great service. Great experience. Restaurant run by three brothers, the two chefs put a lot of care into the food and was a great find we stumbled upon by accident on our first night in Kyoto. The brother who was running the ser...vice side went above and beyond to accommodate our group. Was an overall fantastic experience. Is a set menu restaurant, with a good number of options at a range of price points. Was excellent value for how good the food was and our whole group went home full.

This place was phenomenal. We stopped in here for lunch after a morning of visiting shrines and the food was delicious! Plus the staff was very kind. Great place!

“Nice hidden gem”

Although only set menus the choice is quite good and you can find something to your liking. Quality was very high, service also really good. This was the best meal we had in Japan on this trip and that includes some significantly more expensive meals. We chose the small tuna sashimi menu and everyt...hing was delightful. Well worth a visit.

“Perfect on every level”

Unbelievable food, warm and attentive service, and a classic, intimate atmosphere. After eating there both my partner and I commented that it was the best food with the most pleasant service either of us could remember. The restaurant is tucked into a side street in the Kodaji area, so it’s a great ...option after visiting the Kiyomizu, Kodaji, or other shrines in the area. Just put “Maisachi” in Google Maps. The only catch is that they only serve until their fresh ingredients for the day have all been used, so don’t wait until too late!

“Great food, a lot of variety and reasonable prices in historic section of Kyoto”

Fresh delicious food, many set menus to pick from, and reasonable prices. It is off a side street at 352 Masuyacho which is down the street from Park Hyatt Tokyo. You can find it on goggle maps with the name Masaichi. We had dinner there and I had large set menu with: tempura, grilled fish, sas...himi, tofu, salad, soba noodles, lightly braised vegetables, and seasoned rice. My husband had a smaller tuna sashimi set. With non alcoholic drinks, the meal came to Y7000. It was very reasonable given the quality and the amount of food. On top of that, the restaurant is located in a very touristy area where prices can be high. The setting is beautiful in an old part of Kyoto. The buildings are so beautiful, the area looks like a movie set! Ordering is easy as the menu has lots of pictures and descriptions of the sets in English. Look at the bottom of the pages to see if the prices include taxes. Priced on everything we ordered included taxes.
