“A Memorable Kaiseki Experience in Kitashinchi”
I visited Honokawa, a Japanese restaurant in Kitashinchi. From the beginning to the end, the experience felt calm and well paced, with clear care given to seasonal ingredients and presentation. There was no flashy display, but everything was quietly and carefully prepared. One dish that stayed in m...y memory was the hassun, which included fried rice ears. They lightly pop when eaten, like tiny popcorn. It is a small and playful detail that reflects the depth and subtle enjoyment of Japanese cuisine. The sashimi, simmered dishes, and tempura were all gently prepared. The flavors of seasonal ingredients and dashi were well balanced, allowing each dish to be enjoyed at a relaxed pace. Nothing felt heavy, and the overall flow of the meal was very comfortable. The meal concluded with okowa, Japanese glutinous rice, served with soup — a calm and comforting finish. Dessert followed: a tofu-based cake with mild sweetness that left a soft, pleasant aftertaste. The restaurant features a long counter and a simple, spacious interior. Handwritten messages on the paper placemats and the quiet entrance arrangement added to the warm atmosphere. What impressed me most was the farewell. Not only the hostess, but also the chef came all the way to the entrance to see us off and say a few kind words. I left the restaurant feeling both full and content. It is a place I would like to visit again quietly, in a different season.
