“Eel, hitsumabushi style in Nagoya”
If you like unagi (eel) and in Nagoya, this restaurant provides a good experience, with several branches. I enjoyed dinner at the Imaike location, just across from Don Quixote, and found the staff to be friendly and attentive. The restaurant offers a pleasant ambience, a small designated smoking roo...m for those who smoke, and an English menu which includes three approaches to enjoying your eel rice. Being winter, at about 3℃, the third way which is eaten like soup with condiments, is not only tasty but warms up your belly. Tea was complimentary and refills can be requested. Overall, the grilled eel with crispy texture is delicious.

“Reasonable Eel restaurant”
お手頃な値段でひつまぶしなどを楽しめます。 手羽先や刺し身、サラダなど、他の料理もあり、居酒屋のような使い方も可能。海鮮サラダも美味しかったです。 座敷席も堀になっていて、脚が楽でした。 Looking for a nice place to try eel dishes? This is one of those. Not expensive:around 2000yen for Hitsumabushi, a bowl of rice with grilled eel on top. This bowl contains three times much rice than usual ...rice bowl(Owan), so that people enjoy the grilled eel with three different way. First,as it is, second, with Negi(leek) and/or Wasabi (Japanese hot spice often used with sushi), finally with Soup over the eel and rice. They also have other dishes as salad, Tebasaki chicken (also the popular food in Nagoya), and so on. You can enjoy your dishes with sake(Japanese alcohol made of rice, goes very well with eel dishes), beer, wine and so on. They have Tatami mat space with Hori, space under the table, where you can sit as if on a chair. So you don't have to worry about your knee, while you can enjoy Japanese atmosphere with Tatami.

“Delicious hitsumabushi”
Same as Atsuta Horaiken, we had to wait for an hour on a Sunday lunch break, it was worth waiting. Although it tasted a little too salty for me, still it was delicious especially in dashi-chazuke.

“Eel beyond believe”
I love eel rice. but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. I ordered a eel set. It starts with a deep fried eel spine as appetizer. That thing is a bit crunchy. Should be good with beer. Then there is eel miso soup and a cold appetizer of eel liver. The soup is tasty but the liver is... not really my thing. Then came the rice itself. A huge eel chunk placed on a huge wooden bucket of rice. I was taught to eat it three ways: first with the terriyaki sauce, then with spring onion, then with soup. Let me tell you, by the time the eel rice came, I am already a bit sick of having eels. But the rice was amazing. The eel was crusty on the outside and soft in the inside. There is also a hint of charcoal. Delicious. Out of the three ways, i liked it best plain with terriyaki sauce. Sometimes you really cant perfect something that is already in itself flawless. all these other ways of eating eel is just pointless.
