HisagoNagoyarashikku

Was in Sakae, Nagoya on my last night in Japan looking for a tempura restaurant when I chanced upon Hisago in the Lachic building. It looked promising and it certainly lived up to expectations. Service was very attentive (there was only one other table of diners) and there was an English menu. The ...waiter spoke a bit of English. Sat at the counter in order to watch the chef in action. Quite a few sets to choose from and the one I opted for wasn't cheap at ¥2750 but it consisted of a pretty good offering of 2 prawns, fish, scallop, an assortment of vegetables and an omelette-like shrimps with vege. Rice, salad, pickles, miso soup, dessert and green tea rounded up the set. The tempura was cooked and served one to two at a time so it was always piping hot. The chef gave a brief description of the items served but in Japanese. It was an extremely satisfying meal.

This is a tempura restaurant in a shopping mall which has a good value (approx. 2000 yen) vegetarian set meal. This includes 8 pieces of tempera, rice, pickles, soup and tea. The food is very tasty and has a pleasant Japanese setting.
