“Glorious eel”
Wonderful lunch spot. You need to like eel, as they only serve grilled eel in a few different varieties, but the eel was glorious in all its smokey, fatty flavour. We had very good green tea and miso soup too, all quickly served at reasonable prices.

“Absolutely delicious!”
We had the best Unagi! It was generous and the service was great! Nagoya is known for their fresh water eel. This place is just outside of the Nagoya castle. Portions were great and it made me so happy. Just writing this a month later made me want to have that tonight but it will be pale in co...mparison.

“Great Unagi. Want to go again!”
Delicious unagi, polite staff, high standard of cleanliness and fairly fast service, makes this a 5 star restaurant. Read about this shop online and while on our stopover in Nagoya, on our way to Kamikochi, took the opportunity to try this place. Reached Esca at 1030am, and couldnt find the shop. La...ter asked around and found it,as it only open at 11am and luckily, I was 3rd in Q. I reckon, if you arrive later it will be easier to find as the Q will be very obvious The kindly staff took our 2 huge luggage, and kept them aside and gave us 2 identification tags. Both of us ordered the unagi with ‘3 taste’ and we took the 3/4 unagi which cost ¥ 3,800. ( the 1 whole unagi selection cost ¥4800). For 1 person its reasonable amount Oh, did i mention, there is a free flow of hot green tea? The waitresses’sharp eye will make sure all the cups are full! ( the tea at no extra charge unlike some restaurant in Malaysia and Singapore) The unagi is grilled well done and cripsy on the outside ( but not burnt) but moist inside. Delicious! There is a note on every table to teach you how to eat the ‘3 taste unagi’ I find the choice with the wasabi best. The rice was high quality Japanese, pearly shaped, soft and fragrant. Also delicious! Altogether a memorable experience! Love to go again

“Great hitsumabushi”
I was looking for take out and decided to go for hitsumabushi once again. So I went to ESCA and stumbled upon this restaurant. First impression was that this must be good since there is a long queue and boy it did not disappoint. I went for the extra so thats about 1 1/2 serving of eel. It was yummy... and their takeout boxes are really nice. My favorite is always option 1.
