The hotel recommended we try Miyota, so we tried the second night at their main store, but the queues are long, so we went to their other shop a short distance away and got a table there immediately just after 6.00 pm. The cold Soba was good. The 4 hot soba dishes ordered lacked some flavour. The... hot tempura soba was okay by all diners, but the diner found the egg and chicken hot soba was quite bland with no other condiments or flavourings offered apart from the togarachi. The noodles themselves were quite soft. The tempura soba noodles were quite good. The horse sashimi was declared quite good. The half tempura ordered as an extra side had better variety offered than in the hot tempura soba set. I normally prefer the cold soba, but thought I'd go for the hot tempura soba, and it was okay, but not outstanding for me.

We tried this restaurant to sample the local speciality of Soba noodles and we were not disappointed. We had to wait outside for 5-10 minutes for a table but the food was worth the wait. Excellent quality noodle dishes and although little English was spoken (there is an English menu available) the s...taff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.

Went to the above for dinner and was almost cutting it close to last order rules and long line. The shop closes at 8.30pm but will stop customers orders at 8pm. Very good soba and tempura (crispy). That’s was the only choice we could get for dinner due to the last order rules. No other dishes. Th...e next day we went back for lunch and decided to stand in line before 11am, the shop opens at 11.30am. We tried the deluxe special course meal 2900y, that comes with a hot pot to ‘shabu shabu’ your soba noodles, the staff will then cook porridge in the remainder soup and you be given cold soba to finish off your meal. This meal plan comes with horse meat sashimi and other tempura items. Highly recommended soba joint (Toyoko Inn) and they have a new outlet located behind Hotel Richmond. The other outlet closes later 9.30pm

My husband and I were keen to try the soba of Nagano. We chose the Tōji soba meal with mushrooms and mountain vegetables (and karaage chicken). How delicious! The soba was so good - the broth amazing but the experience made it even better. Dipping the soba, and the porridge that staff made afterward...s. Our sake went so well too. Also really appreciated the cold soba after. We went at 7pm and waited no time at all. A wonderful place to get local cuisine and have a great food experience- a must do in Matsumoto!

We had the deluxe soba set. Soba tea. Soba Ice cream. Hot soba. Cold soba. Horse meat sashimi. Loved it all. The food is great and reflective of the local cuisine. Highly recommended.
