“Just ok soba, better choices nearby”
Hotel recommended this place for its soba. We found really mediocre soba. Had better in chuzenji. This tasted bland and too mushy. Tempura was greasy. Staff are friendly but I would not go back especially with the other places nearby.

“Soba for dinner”
We ordered cold soba and the rest of us hot. The duck meat was a little tough. The yam, there is no yam taste and found that the soup is thicker and no taste. The cold soba taste much better than the rest

“Authentic soba-ya”
Small typical japanese traditional restaurant. But u still be comfortable because the seat weren’t too tight to each other. I think their specialties is ‘duck’ ingridient in their soba. I tried kamo and negi soba(i think), when you take the broth ,you can really enjoy the ‘aroma’ of duck meat and ta...manegi (colliander is it in english?).. and my husband got NABE. For you who needs a super big portion with soba in broth,complete with vegees+duck meat,this is perfect for you. I think you can also order 1 nabe and share for two. Prize:aroud 1000-2500yen (i’m sorry i kinda forget).. but not under thousand i remembered. The owner were nice,he could speak english(he’ll approach you,not like most of japanese that afraid to approach you in english), they had english translation in menu, and don’t forget to prepare CASH!

“Wonderful sake, tempura and soba”
We were staying nearby to the castle and wanted something local. This was recommended by our hotel and we completely rewarded by this excellent no fuss cold soba and Tempura, with good "helpings" of dry sake. A very quiet and slightly off the beaten track restaurant, with just the chef in attendance.... The English menu helped and with our few Japanese and the chef's few English words, we had a most pleasant meal. Highly commended. Pricing was very reasonable, when compared with the more tourist orientated restaurants.

“Great for Soba dishes”
Not easy to find as there is hardly any information outside the restaurant. Luckily the main dishes are listed in English so as long as you stick to Soba and the sides you will be ok. Most of us chose Soba with the duck broth. Not so many pieces of duck but the Soba was delicious and filling. We eve...n got some snacks on the house whilst we waited for the food to arrive. Service is very friendly not pushy at all, there is a very calm atmosphere in the place. This was our first proper in Japan and comes highly recommended.
