“Hitsumabishi”
This is a great place to try Nagoya specialty Hitsumabishi but be prepared for a queue as this restaurant is hugely popular. The wait is definitely worthwhile. Choose from 3 sizes- mini, regular or upsize and you can choose to eat your Hitsumabishi 3 ways - on it’s own, with condiments and with dash...i broth. It’s delectable and you will want to come back for more.

“Hitsumabushi!!!!”
I've been looking forward to trying the famous Hitsumabushi. I read a lot of reviews before choosing to try Maruya Honten. I am sure I could have found even better ones. However, due to accessibilities and convenience I tried Maruya. There was a short queue as I went early for dinner. The eels ...were amazing. My husband is not fond of eels because of the tiny bones in most averagely prepared ones. however, even he said the eel was amazing. The way to each Hitsumabushi was well explained and indeed a good experience. I am keen to try another hitsumabushi next time I'm in Nagoya.

“Fantastic Hitsumabushi Eel”
Since we were staying at the Marriott at Nagoya Station, we came to this location to try the Hitsumabushi Eel. We came to Nagoya during the New Year holiday and this place was always packed. So we chose to come in the middle of the day for our best chances. We came on Friday, January 3 at around ...3:30 pm and there were 2 people ahead of us. A few minutes later, we had a table. We ordered the meal with 1 eel to share for 3500 yen. With tax, it came out to be 3850 yen. We weren't too hungry but if you are, you will want to order another portion. The eel tasted fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the 3 ways of eating it. It is definitely a must try if you are in Nagoya.

“Just the basics ”
Looking for an everyday place to try out Nagoya’s eel dish. Presentation was unique with the rice and eel served in wooden “bowls” presumably traditional. Do read the instructions on the many ways to eat it. Portions are just nice and it went well with a pint of cold Kirin beer. A set meal was sligh...tly more than 3000 Yen. As the restaurant was within the train station, the ambience was a bit noisy. Enjoyed my meal.

“Delicious Unagi”
The chance to try eating one of my favorite Japanese foods, unagi, in 3 different ways was not one I was going to pass over. The restaurant is located on the Taiko-dori side of Nagoya Station, just before the main entrance there is an alleyway that leads to the restaurant row. We got there at about ...5.30pm and already the restaurant was full. We were first in the queue so we got our seats fairly quickly. They have an English menu so ordering is easy. Basically you just need to decide the portion size of the unagi you want. We had the big one which costs ¥3500 but it was worth every Yen. When we left the restaurant after 6pm there was a long line and the sign said that average waiting time was 30mins. So best to go early.
