Hida

We were recommended the place by a sake shop owner. It is a large place, tables well spaced, staff very polite and helpful. The menu is designed to the palate and different sizes of stomach ! You get the beef in four different cutes, eg sirloin or ribeye etc. Also in different sizes eg 100, 150, 2...00 etc gms and in two qualities A4 and A5. We were told to tryout the sirloin. The meat was awesome, like butter melting in the mouth. The place is expensive but worth every penny. Dont miss.

We wanted to try the authentic hida beef while visiting Takayama and this looked like a good option with positive reviews. It was nothing fancy, very dated decor but the staff were friendly and the food was good but it wasn't worth the prices we paid to enjoy steaks. We ordered the filet mignon 1...50 gram steaks, 2 beers and shared a side salad and French fries and paid over 20,000 yen which was more than our hotel room in most of the places we visited. I noted that the locals were ordering the more basic dishes with beef topping rather than actual steaks. We had hida beef kebabs at the morning market later in the trip for 600 yen and enjoyed them just as much. The hida beef is so tender that ordering filet mignon wasn't worth the splurge.

Enjoyed our steak dinner at the Kitchen Hida. Excellent steak, beef stroganoff was outstanding, and all the side dishes were delicious.

A delicious Hida steak cooked to perfection served with an ideal Red wine. The restaurant is totally unpretentious and focuses entirely on excellent food and service.

Excellent meal and good service. Was a recommended place and quite small so we booked. Meal was simply presented and super ni e. You choose the type of cut, and degree of marbling, and cooking choice, and soon after is an excellent meal. Nice red wine too.
