Matsumoto is known for its soba and this restaurant is located across from the Mastumoto Castle grounds and down the Nakamichi-dori on the right side so it's easy to find. Our servers appeared to be multi-lingual as they easily spoke Japanese, English, and their native language (Nepalese?). We or...dered the soba and tempura combination and I would highly recommend that selection. After climbing and descending the steep stairs of Matsumoto Castle we were really ready for a bowl of soba. There's a souvenir shop next door that has a variety of goods which reflect what Matsumoto is known for, such as the temari ball.

We wanted to try out the local soba so I had the one with cold soba & duck soup and my husband had the one with wasabi vegetables & cold soba. Both were very delicious and we would have them again. They gave us a ¥50 discount ticket each to use in the gift shop on the first floor.

This is an amazing experience if you are in Matsumoto. You can make your own Soba noodles and dine in their three level restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff.

I was so glad that they could provide gluten-free soba and sauce and this was the only restaurant we could find in a month trip that could serve me that! Gluten-free is very hard in Japanese restaurants. The décor was fun and interesting and the service was great. Not sure if they can speak Engli...sh since we were with a Japanese friend, but if you have the phrases written out to show them when you arrive, they will know what to do.
