“Nagoya signature”
Yabaton is a katsu, or pork cutlet restaurant chain. This branch is at a department store near the main railway station. Menu offers quite some options but everything is about pork. Serving crispy and juicy pork cutlet with a sweet miso sauce is the essential Nagoya way. Service is fair and price mo...dest. Expect a long queue during lunchtime.

“Tonkatsu so good it melts in your mouth”
Long Q but cleared very fast. No English menu. Server able to tell you what is their signature. I love their tonkatsu sauce, requested for a 2nd refill of the sauce and they politely obliged. I do not like the red miso sauce.

“Tonkatsu melts in your mouth”
Tonkatsu melts in your mouth 😋 Special miso sauce makes it even better Worth the queue and wait. Service is good and they have good grip chopsticks, it’s for retail too. I bought a few pairs. convenient and accessible location at Meitetsu bldg (nagoya station)

“Good food but crappy guidance staff”
My last meal in Nagoya was not pleasant at all. The food here is not bad, just a little too greasy, but the sevice is really a dreadful disaster.I arrived here at around 7 pm on 17 Dec 2019, the guidance guy outside with a blue shirt was so arrogant and impatient. When I told him I want a table fo...r one, he just pointed his finger at the end of waiting chairs and said 'there', without any facial expression at all. Then he performed the procedure once again when he led me to the table: pointed at the seat and said 'there', like I was some kind of street begger, was he really a Japanese for god's sake? The funny thing was, his English vocabulary could just increase greatly by the moment he encountered foreign ladies. Instead of just saying 'there' and pointing his little fingers, he could just become a Mr. Hospitality. Shame on this night shift guidance guy with blue shirt on 17 Dec 2019, I don't even want to remember his bloody name.

“Surprisingly good ”
I didn’t mean to try this restaurant but because Maruya Honten was extremely busy and I had a train to catch, I decided to eat here instead. I’m not a fan of tonkatsu but this one is decent enough. A famous vlogger was also recording his experience. Restaurant manager speaks basic English. He’s fr...iendly and puts you at ease immediately. I ordered the recommended dish: teppanyaki tonkatsu set. It comes on a sizzling plate. This is one of the best tonkatsu I’ve eaten. It’s not as greasy as I imagined it to be. The pork is still tender. Thank God! There is a queue but it’s not horrendous. Perhaps being there around opening hours will be great.
