“famous miso-katsu”

We took a late lunch here, as we walked from NGO sta towards Noritake Garden. It is at a basement level somewhere near Lucent Bldg. The exterior looks like a ‘foodcourt’ with 5 distinct different stall, Yabaton being one of them. We had tried the famous franchise begore at other outlets. Serving ...the famous Nagoya food : Misokatsu(pork cutlet with miso sauce). It was deep-fried Pork cutlet (of pork fillet and/or pork loin), though they are choices of deep-fried Seafoods,(Scallop, Oyster too). The famous signature is the red soybean Miso Sauce which may taste bit saltish if not getting used to. Just 10 mins and our meal of pork culet - crispy on the outside, tender in the middle was served, placed on top of steaming hot rice and covered in plenty of miso sauce! We had an enjoyable meal, warm & filling portion A must-try when in Nagoya!

“Nagoya specialities in 1 place”

While Yabaton is reknowned for its miso katsu, this restaurant chain also has several of the unique Nagoya cuisine on its menu. The B1 Lucent Tower store is quieter and more spacious than the long queues at the Nagoya Station or Esca outlets. Having said that, do go early on weekends or make reserv...ations. The notable Nagoya cuisine at the restaurant include Tebasaki (savoury chicken wings), Miso Katsu (pork cutlet with miso sauce), Tenmusu (deep fried shrimp topping pockets of rice wrapped in seaweed), Hitsumabushi (grilled eel on rice eaten 3-ways) and Nagoya Cochin Chicken (premier native bred chicken). The miso katsu loin cutlet was a huge serving and tad too heavy for me. Pork fillet could be a better option to go with the sweet and rich miso sauce. The restaurant staff are always busy fleeting around, so do be patient. Ask for English menu as English is not widely understood. Bon appetite!

“Good to try”

After finding a queue a mile long, at Yabaton Meitetsu at Nagoya Station, we found this one in the Lucent food court area, which it shares with a Nagoya chicken and eel hitsumabushi place. Allows you to try several different cuisines at once. The tonkatsu is good, but a bit oily and the red miso sa...uce is very rich and quite salty. Serving on the recommended set meal is big. Overall, good to try, but I preferred normal tonkatsu with sesame and BBQ sauce more. Great location to avoid the queues.

This might be the branch that we ate the famous miso tonkatsu. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The food are great and they even offer unlimited rice and green tea!
