Slightly off the main road as you wander to the temple is this little gem of a restaurant. Incredibly friendly staff serve a blend of Japanese, Italian, and French meals. Excellent value course lunches are available. We loved every bite! The restaurant is small, and while we were lucky to get a ...late walk in I would book a reservation if you want to guarantee a spot, especially during lunch while the crowds are visiting.

Since the G7 Summit in Ise, the area has really begun to fancy itself. The holiest Shinto shrines in Japan weren't enough. French restaurants in the area are expensive, and while good, are pretty straightforward. Enter Mirepoix. Japanese simple restaurant with a nice tatami room to one side, but goo...d French food at a decent price. And not bad wines. Worth it if you are in the area.

We bumped into this small eatery diverted into an alley on our first night in Iseshi. It was full that night and we booked to come back the second night. We opted to a la carte and not went for the set menu. The chicken liver pate and pork and beef cold cut are tasty but not heavy. We were kin...dly reminded that the seafood paella needs 60 minutes to prepare and it turned out to be a well deserved wait. Highly recommend place for a sit-down western meal in Ise Shi.

After having lunch at this place, I decided to have also diner over here. This is a typical Japanese small restaurant with an informal atmosphere.
