“Excellent culinary experience”
We came for dinner and had the 6 course set menu. This worked for us as we do not speak Japanese and they do not have an English menu. I lived in Rome for a year and have been going to Italy for over 50 years. This meal was as good as any that I have had in Italy. The chef/owner was charming and ...an excellent chef. He worked in Tokyo and Torino before coming home to Matsumoto. La Chiave means the key in Italian. And in a play on words, his family name means key in Japanese.

“Excellent Italian food”
Stumbled across this little place in our travels. They did not have an English menu but with assistance from the wait staff we were able to order our meals. The staff were excellent. They worked really hard with their interpreting. If tipping wasn't such a no no in Japan we would have given these gu...ys a big tip for effort. We had the venison, a chorizo pasta and what we would call pippi's in Australia pasta, side salads followed by a rhubarb tart, pannacotta and an affogatto. Bread was complimentary. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who is prepared to give these guys a go at English translation.

“The Italian experience in Matsumoto”
Cabbage Tiramisu is just amazing! Try the chef speciality of the week, e come la pasta di la nonna. 5 stars for sure. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

“Excellent meal, great service ”
This small Italian restaurant managed our group really well. The food was delicious, especially the gnocchi. Service was excellent, with enough English spoken by the staff to ensure we had a great night. The wine was great.
