“Do not miss out if you can make this...fantastic experience with fond memories.”
We arrived a little earlier than our scheduled time and the staff was very accommodating. Although a warm day, the work of preparing the meal by the Ama ladies and politeness in serving us made us feel so welcomed. The food was fantastic and it was awesome to see it cooked right in front of you on a... rustic grill by Ama divers who were still all active. The ladies were so sweet and kind, we just fell in love with them. Glad we didn't miss this, the kids liked it too!!

“Hora Hachiman!”
The exterior look doesn’t do justice to the dining experience that you will get. The hut looks dilapidated but I guess that is part of the surprise. We had an awesome seafood lunch. Period. Plenty of fresh shellfish, lobster and mackerel - all grilled by ama (lady) divers who have lived their enti...re lives diving for seafood. Paired with Japanese sake or cold beer and hot tea, the seafood menu provides a dining experience beyond expectation, with food grilled right before you and serve item per item as soon as they are cooked. Japanese rice (gohan) and miso soup complete the meal. Part of the highlight is an introduction to former ama divers and their sharing of their experiences as divers. They end with an ama dance using traditional Japanese music. Don’t hesitate to go here and experience for yourself. Unforgettable experience awaits.

“The most Fresh seafood ever”
On arrival we were welcomed by the AMA ladies with the biggest smile. We were shown our lunch and then Adam (English translator) provided further details. We arrived with a large lunch group so unfortunately the place was a little noisy. The AMA ladies would cook some of the food within the dinin...g room (most outside as it was extremely hot), but the taste was not forgettable. The highlight on top of the amazing food was 2 of the following 1. Being greeted and meeting Reiko-San who is 87yo’s and has the kindest smile 2. Our host explaining how the AMA ladies began and the evolution of this ancient profession. (With Adam translating to English) Sadly I do feel the AMA ladies profession may soon be extinct as the younger generations are choosing other careers. Highly recommend to visit this wonderful place.
