“Beautiful vegetarian cuisine in a spectacular setting”
This was my favorite meal of my family's 12-day trip to Japan. We enjoyed a traditional, vegetarian kaiseki dinner of multiple courses, each one of which was a work of art. The view from our private dining room was of a beautiful 250-year-old garden. The service was outstanding. A magical evening fo...r my family and me.

“Stunning food, incredible service in a gorgeous historic restaurant”
Eating here was a highlight of our three week journey through Japan back in October 2017. We ate here on our last afternoon in beautiful Takayama and have so many amazing taste memories. We ate in our own room with a view of the beautiful, wooded garden. They gave us blankets to make sure we were wa...rm enough and served us a course of many amazing dishes. We had to catch a train so they kindly accommodated our schedule and put us in a taxi to the train station right after we were done eating. The building and garden are something like 250 years old and the restaurant has been there for 200 years in the same family. They served everything with pride and literally every bite was a delicious adventure. We took so many pictures because everything was so beautiful. It was a really fantastic and unforgettable experience that I can't recommend enough. Takayama in general is a very beautiful town and I can't wait to come back.

“Delicious vegetarian Kaiseki in a stunning historical home”
After winding my way around Hida beef in Takayama, I was thrilled to stumble on this restaurant, signalled only by a small printed sign in English at the entrance. We were greeted by an elegant woman who arranged reservations for us, and showed us the gorgeous garden. This is an historic home that h...as been in the same family for 12 generations - about 250 years. The meal itself was wonderful - plate after plate of delicately, lovingly prepared food - all vegetarian. This is Japanese dining at its best. It's pricey at about $100 pp, but worth the splurge. Meals are less expensive at lunch. Drinks are not included, but sake and beer are reasonably priced. Recommended for vegetarians and non alike!

“Presentation”
Set vegetarian menu. Cheapest option about $150 Australian per head. Secluded dining overlooking 250 year old garden. Food beautifully presented. Must have taken hours. Best meal we have ever had , but we know the inside of a number of McDonalds.
