INDOKAREHTAHJIMAHAHRUTOKURA

I enjoy good Indian food where ever I travel and in Japan this one is really good. I've had others in the Tokyo area but you'll pay the price for it. This restaurant is very affordable and the food is very good. They have a nice selection on their menu for everyone. The only thing for me that I ...don't like is the stronger than normal aroma from the incense that is burning. other than that the restaurant is quaint and the service is good and the staff are all friendly. Very well spoken in the Japanese language and even speak a little English.

I don't understand why a previous reviewer thought this restaurant's menu was unsuitable for vegetarians. I'm vegetarian and I found plenty of choices. Maybe they have changed their menu. Anyway, the quality of the lunch was so much better than the usual uninspiring pseudo-Indian food that has becom...e the norm in much of Japan. Recommended!

I've eaten at Taj Mahal at least 10 times. It is my favorite restaurant in Mishima, no question. I've recommended it to friends, co-workers, students and even taken my mom when she came to visit Japan. Everyone I've recommended it to has thanked me. Each set (1,700 yen - 2,200 yen per person for di...nner) comes with plenty of food. More than enough to take some home for the next day or leave you finding it difficult to walk if you eat everything in front of you. While I wish there were a bit more variety in the curry menu, I have honestly never tried a curry that I didn't enjoy. Taj Mahal's side menu items are really tasty too! I especially like the spicy kebab. The specialty nan's are good but not great. The regular nan is so good though, I don't think they need anything extra. If any area of the menu needs improvement, its the salad menu. I've never wanted to order a salad here. Probably because the rest of the food is better than a salad. The one major drawback of enjoying Taj Mahal is its location. It's a 5-10 min drive or a 20+ min walk from the North side of Mishima station. Visitors would need to catch a taxi to and from (about 1000 yen each way) or suss out the bus schedules. In any case, if you live or are staying in this area and are in to Indian food. Give Taj Mahal a try!
