“dial down your expectations a bit and you'd be happy”
A good Italian restaurant. Not great, but good for being so far from Italy. Recommend their caesar salad, quattro formaggi pizza, but not so much their seafood pasta. A 'glass' of beer is surprisingly small (like a wine glass serving, with a long stem glass). Pleasant place, good food.

“Yummy”
Loved the food here We were craving something other than Japanese food and this restaurant did not disappoint. I had spaghetti pomodoro and my husband a pizza. We shared a green salad. Everything was freshly prepared and cooked just right

“Authentic Italian Pizza and Pasta in Japanese city.”
Friendly staff great selection of Pizza's and pasta. Good food for a Japanese city. Atmosphere was OK, restaurant clean, staff helpful and open kitchen to view meals being prepared. Great surprise to have such good Italian food in Japan.

“Great Pizza, Disappointing meats”
Was looking forward to dinner after a long drive to Kanazawa. The Ekimae restaurant was fully reserved so we were directed to the quieter Honten branch about 15mins walk away. Both restaurants have a wood fired oven. First impressions were good. Service was good. The waitress was patient with non-Ja...panese. Diners were mostly Italians that night so we thot the restaurant must be authentic. Marguerita pizza was excellent. Then the long 30min wait for the 3 meats main meal. Sorry, the dish was not worth the price or the wait...plating was uninspired, the coal grill didn't make a difference in taste. Price was too high as it was just pork, chicken and beef plus veggies. If we ever go back, it will for the pizza only.

“Fantastic Italian in Kanazawa”
Despite a note from Trip Advisor stating Trattoria DA Take was closed until 28 February 2025, we found it open on 13 February and we're so glad. The service was superb and the food outstanding - all in an true Italian ambiance, helped by Italian radio piped through speaker all over the restaurant. S...tarting with the freshest of fresh caprese salad, followed by spaghetti genovase and pizza cappricoccia. The Genovase contained the creamiest of potatoes, succulent beans and a satisfying pesto topped with fresh spaghetti and parmegan - really enjoyable. The pizza prepared in the roaring wood fired oven was easily the best we've had in 20 years of travels. All of this was accompanied by Italian rose sparkling wine and draft Peroni. We had a wonderful evening helped by the truly attentive staff - we'll be returning. If you're in Kanazawa - don't miss the gem of a restaurant close to the railway station.
