UOTAMIMarugame

This trip found us going to a lot of izakayas and a lot of them were part of one or another chain cropping up everywhere - even in small towns, it seemed. In some cities, as here in Marugame, we didn’t even know the name of the place we entered until we were inside and we opened the menu (sad to sa...y, we can’t read Japanese so we couldn’t read the sign and if no menu is posted outside we don’t have a clue - except that it was easy to learn what WaraWara’s name looked like.) Once inside, we learned that this place was yet another iteration of the Uotami chain. The menu was slightly different from other Uotamis, but the basics were the same. We summoned our waitress by the bell and she seemed much relieved when we gave her our order without needing help. She had little to no English. We had "private dining" and were in our own little room with a screen sliding door. This was yet another izakaya with fake zaishiki seating, with one's feet dangling below the table. The food was as expected and very good. We downed it with a couple of beers and a couple of waters. We were really hungry and we ordered quite a lot. The bill was a whopping ¥3280 - much more than we had spent recently, but we ate more.
