“Wholesome Fare!”
This place was recommended by the people around the area. A 10-15mins walk from Nikko Hotel, Kochi. Place was packed. First - There is no english menu here. And menu has no pictures! The lady who served us was middle age, obasan. She is the nicest lady! She gave good recommendation of food and it... felt very homely. The wait for food was reasonable despite I was feeling really hungry I didn't feel it was a long wait. The food I had was a wholesome fare, fresh and flavourful. Served in nice portion - which is good for someone who prefers variety! A Japanese friend once told me Japanese food is about quality, small portion but good. In America, big! But after a while her taste buds are numbed. I didn't managed to ask about their specialty, but the fresh Kakisu had me coming back the next day! Kochi is famous for their bonito flakes (fish flakes) and Horikawa serves agedashi tofu with nice and crispy bonito flakes. Please order that too! Definitely coming back when I am in Kochi!
