“Definitely eat here for great food and hospitality”
Fantastic food and presentation. You can tell they take great care in what they serve and how it is presented. The owner visited with us and everyone was very kind and friendly. The location was so easy to get to from the train station. This dinner was a highlight of our food experiences!

“Exquisite and delicious local seafoods”
Enjoy exquisite local gourmet dishes, including unusual dishes, such as "Fukumen" and "Taimeshi" at this famous restaurant "Hozumi-tei" near Uwajima JR train station. "Fukumen" is served as a banquet dish and also served for the New Years day. It is colorful with pink and white sea bream and green l...eeks. These toppings cover the konnyaku or arum root noodles. You may mix them before served. "Taimeshi" is usually referred to as the white steamed rice and sea bream, however the Uiwajima version is very different. Fresh Sashimi seα bream served in a sweet soy-base sauce with chicken egg is to be poured on the white steamed rice and mixed with it. You might order additional rice bowl!

“Excellent!”
A warm welcoming, the owner of the restaurant went to speak with us and even tried to speak English (and a little bit French as French customers :)), He had excellent recommandations for the food. We took and excellent donburi and another bowl with sea urchin and fish eggs who were amazing! It is a...lso a very cute place with box to lunch with privacy. Thank you for this moment!

“Local, neighborhood restaurant. Great food, great service.”
Using GPS to navigate the city and the numerous one way streets, we were able to maneuver our way to this local establishment. We were given a tatami seating area for us. We enjoyed the fresh seafood sashimi dishes, taimeshi special along with the local fishcake. Everything was well prepared and rea...lly quick. Always interesting taste the seasonal vegetables too as well the extreme care given to the presentation. Every dish is an artwork to please the eye. If you are ever way out here, this is a recommended stop.

“Great Local Color”
This restaurant was a real treat! We had the teishoku set meals for lunch, and the tai fish really lives up to its reputation as being delicious and fresh. In fact, you can see the live fish in a pool behind the cash register, which was a hit with our young son. We were also happy that there are fre...e refills on rice, so you don't have to worry about walking away hungry. There is a maze of private rooms so you can enjoy your meal without onlookers as well. The staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly, one server even ran outside after us to add some details to a recommendation that he made while we were paying our bill. Hozumitei is a great balance of atmosphere, good food, and good service, so we would highly recommend it and are looking forward to a chance to return again someday.
