“Unforgettable experience, traditional, innovative, local kaiseki cuisine, also for Vegan/Vegetarian”
I'm from Sendai, and Kaiseki Toyokan has been serving traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine since 1907. My grandparents' generation has been visiting Toyokan for special occasions. Kaiseki cuisine consists of 9 to 12 courses and is very traditional. However, what sets this restaurant apart is that, ...while traditional, it's also creative, full of seasonal flavors, and makes generous use of local ingredients. They also perfectly accommodate vegetarians and vegans (though reservations are required). The vegan kaiseki cuisine, known as shojin ryori, is fantastic. The building itself is truly impressive. This old, traditional Japanese house has spacious rooms, all with tatami floors and chairs and tables. Each group shares a room, even if there's only two of them. The tableware on which each dish is served is also exquisite. Regardless, your meal is sure to be a memorable one. Even the most expensive course costs around 16,000 yen per person (including service charge), which is really good value.
