“Friendly place with awesome beef”

We looked for this place based on previous TripAdvisor reviews and found it - it's in the same building as Club Zoo still, down a corridor you can access from the street. They have an English menu now! You just have to ask. And good friendly service. They specialise in wagyu, and all the cuts we go...t were awesome. We also got some pork - all good. Highly recommended. They close at 6am (this was a Tuesday night) so it's great for a late meal.

“Very excellent Sendai yakiniku! 仙台焼肉 美味しい!”

This is a must try yakiniku restaurant in Sendai. Daishogun (1700- late) is located in the main thru street of Kokubunchō district on the ground floor of the building that houses Club Zoo. Be prepared to use some basic Japanese to order and yes the menu is in Japanese only. One must try the Send...ai A5 beef with its perfect marble texturing and the excellent leaner cut Rosu. The flavor of the meat is incredible and yet delicate and the texture is like butter. Cooking is done on a small hibachi (BBQ grill) with special cylindrical coals that come to your table piping hot. The yasai platter that comes with fresh vegetables and mushrooms is recommended as well as the pork belly cuts. Cook the pork belly on the mushrooms and the smoke will add flavor to them! Yes the sauces are incredible too and the lemon sauce is perfect for the pork belly. Please order the naengmyoen (korean cold noodles in broth) or as they call it in Japan reimen. Add some freshly cooked beef to the soup and the provided kimchee and you'll be in for a flavor extravaganza. We were both hungry so our bill came out to around 5000¥ each but that included 3 servings of beef, 1 pork belly dish, vegetable platter, and my reimen. It was so good that we took the "Hayabusa/Komachi" Shinkansen (recommended train for less stops to Sendai) from Tokyo to eat here just for dinner! It's that good! I will be coming back soon to Japan to eat here again!

“Best yakiniku I've ever had!”

Was in Sendai to do some sightseeing and was looking for some non-gyu tan (cow tongue) yakiniku since Sendai is apparently renowned for their gyu tan and you'll find those restaurants all over the place, I was having a very difficult time finding just normal yakiniku with normal meat. Trip Advisor ...had Daishogun listed with only 2 reviews, but both gave high praise so decided to take a chance, and what a payoff! They serve very high quality Sendai Wagyu beef, honestly some of the best beef I've ever had. I highly advise trying the Sendai Wagyu kalbi, rosu and pork belly, also on the menu are assortments of vegetables to grill, Korean soups, and of course gyu tan. The dipping sauces were incredible as well, I loved their steak sauce and some sort of lemon sauce (went very well with the pork). They only had dinner hours of operation, opening at 17:00 and open till pretty late, our bill per person was about ¥5000, and this included about 3 servings of meat, 1 of vegetables, 1 very large bowl of soup (meant for sharing but we ate our own) and a large bowl of rice. This was obviously an enormous meal but we were starving, I would guess an average bill would probably run ¥3000-¥4000 per person. Just keep in mind the entire menu is in Japanese, but knowledge of katakana and some basic kanji can get you through, or just use google translate app!
