Okotetsu

Over the years I have eaten here many times and if it is possible this place keeps getting better. We were taken here by a friend who lives close by for dinner, normally we go for lunch so this was a little different. For the first time we had some steak to start with , then my favourite Okonomiyaki... then we had some delicious fried oysters. All the food was scrumptious, Staff are great, got to meet the chef / owner, he was good value , had a little chat. Love this place and will be back next time in Hiroshima, cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Back in 2014 while in Hiroshima we ate here on a couple of occasions and this week we have eaten here twice, I reported back in 2014 that this the best place I have eaten at for Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki and my opinion has not changed, the staff are great , very friendly and now know how I like m...y Okonomiyaki, no noodles but double everything else, absolutely scrumptious. If you go at lunch time tea, coffee and different flavours soft drinks are free as well as a good assortment of different flavoured ice creams, serve yourself and have as much as you like, great value. There is a Japanese style dining area and also western style with tables & chairs. Will definitely be back again next trip.

On our recent trip to Japan we were lucky enough to be staying with family in Hiroshima just 2 minutes from this great Okonomiyaki Restaurant. I must say it serves the best Okonomiyaki I have ever had, Hiroshima style of course. It always seems to be busy so it is best to book ahead. You sit on the... tatami mat floor with your legs under the table and in the centre of the table is a big hot plate heated by gas which they light as you order. The Okonomiyaki is cooked to perfection using the ingredients you want in the kitchen, then when ready brought out and transferred to the hot plate in front of you. This keeps it nice and hot the whole time you are eating it. During the two weeks we were there we enjoyed the meals there three times so that is recommendation enough. Great value , a must try if your in the area.
