Ichiran has become an international brand. In many countries, it is perhaps the only option for authentic Japanese ramen. The Hiroshima branch is right at its lively downtown. The signature ramen is consistent as always. Service is fast and warm. Price is actually quite modest. Come in the morning t...o avoid the crowd.

We visited here on recommendation from one of the locals. It was a bit of a strange experience, but once you get the hang of it its great. you order before you sit down via a machine at entrance, then you get shown to a seat- we were in 2 small cubicles in a run of them and you can swing open the w...ooden divider to talk to each other. The food and drinks appeared through the curtain at the back of the table and you have options to order more, plus condiments etc all around you we ordered standard ramen and it was excellent and went down well with a cold beer Highly recommended as both an experience and for the food- we enjoyed the fact that after every order was called out all the staff, wherever they were, called back a response The queue of locals told us this was a good place for lunch and even when we came out there was a huge queue A must-do experience while you're in Japan

A fairly long queue but the food was as tasty as always! We were given a private booth at this one (it seemed like all of the foreigners were being placed into side-booths, not that we were complaining!) and the staff were as friendly and helpful as always.

Not really sure what all the fuss is about to be honest! There is really nothing exciting about the food here, it's a bowl of ramen with pork or without pork - that's it. Not worth the queues, or the hype or any of it. Do people get so excited because they can select how soft or firm their noodles a...re served? What a gimmick!
