ICHIRAN Hiroshimahondohri

Not really sure what all the fuss is about to be honest! There is really nothing exciting about the food here, it's a bowl of ramen with pork or without pork - that's it. Not worth the queues, or the hype or any of it. Do people get so excited because they can select how soft or firm their noodles a...re served? What a gimmick!

Tried this ramen as our first meal in Hiroshima and noticed the taste and dining experience is consistent throughout Japan. Only difference i noticed was that we could just choose the seats ourselves as long its empty whereas other outlets we went to couldn't (maybe because there was no queue here).

I've been to Ichiran before in other cities and was curious to see what the one in Hiroshima was like. I came here right at noon and there was a line out the door, but I opted to sit upstairs at a table and the line was much faster. This location has two floors, I assume the first floor was individu...al stalls while the second floor was open with tables. You order your ramen at a ticket machine and the hostess will provide you with a paper with options for your ramen, like hardness of noodles, green onions, etc.. My wife and I were seated relatively quickly and service was great and friendly as usual. We each ordered the basic ramen bowl. I like their ramen here, the pork broth is yummy as are the noodles. I am rating Ichiran average just because I've lived here over a year now and have been to many other ramen places that are better, mainly the small family owned businesses. At one point, Ichiran was probably the best around, but now there is a lot of competition. Still, Ichiran is well worth going to for the experience and decent ramen.

Absolutely love the broth. I ate this once in Tokyo. For Hiroshima, they also have a table seating area upstairs besides the booth. It's good if you came with friends as you can sit together and have a conversation. Ordering process is the same.
