SARONDORIKKUSU

Having checked into our hotel for a night in Kurashiki, we set out to find somewhere for a drink around the river area in the heart of the old city. This proved not so easy as one would have thought, but we lucked upon Salon de Rics hidden away down a side alley off the main riverside of the histor...ic area. Serving us that night were a young man and young woman who were not only very welcoming, but also happy to practice their English with us. They have a great range of spirits behind the bar, including sake if that takes your fancy, some good wine by the glass, and even Hoegaarden beer by the bottle. We were the first customers of the evening, but we were soon joined by a handful of local Japanese customers, all of whom seemed like they were regulars, and there was a great buzz to the place. I can imagine it getting pretty lively. Great environment, perfect size, good service and drinks, friendly atmosphere. We sampled a couple of bar snacks which were good and well presented, and I would imagine their more substantial offerings would be worth trying, but this is not really a restaurant. Highly recommended, we loved the place. Open 6pm to midnight if I recall accurately.
