“My first dining out following the lift of the state of emergency, their fried oysters was one of the best I've ever had.”
We had lunch in the restaurant area on the 10th floor of Chiba Sogo Department Store, just fully reopened at end May. Still much fewer shoppers than before, and even less in the restaurant area. I thought it would be a good opportunity to try this restaurant we had never had the chance to visit beca...use of the long waiting time. There were only a handful of guests waiting outside, but it took an hour before we were invited inside. We understood why as we noticed the seating capacity had been reduced to less than 50%, as the tables normally seating four was seating only two diagonally, and only every other counter seats were being offered. It made me wonder how they're going to cope as the shoppers gradually return. Anyway I ordered one of their most popular lunch menu, the deep fried oysters which comes with a salad and soup and your choice of rice or bread. I was rewarded for the long waiting time as the oysters were delightful. The price range starts from about 1,000 yen for the lighter meals like the one I chose, but of course you have the choice of a much more extensive course including fresh oysters and gumbo soup for twice as much or more. I wouldn't mind revisiting if and when I can afford to wait long.
