“Amazing grilled beef and spicy veg pancake!! I”
Grilled Sliced beef - so rich with flavor, not even close to being dried out Deep fried sesame tofu with soup - ginger flavor soup and perfect for a cold day Spicy veg pancake - perfectly cooked and a tad spicy Chicken breast with Wasabi - exactly what it sounds like but the chicken was perfectly... cooked! Almost like it was Sous Vide first then grilled on sticks. Concensus: If you are in the area, I would give it a try! Also, it is in a cool area of town with narrow brick streets for wandering around.

“Very pleasant surprise”
We walked into this place as they have an English menu and the other restaurants in the area can be a bit intimidating. We were not disappointed-extremely delicious and reasonably priced food. Tuna sashimi, grilled sliced beef, fried sesame tofu with soup, and spicy vegetable pancake were all amazin...g, especially the beef. The warm sake was great too. Highly recommend! Only turnoff is that you can smoke inside but that seems to be the norm in Japan.

We loved every food item we tried. Food was priced right. Selection of food and drinks was great. I've been a few times now and even went for my birthday
“What Westerners want in Japan”
This restaurant in trendy Akasaka, has no photographs of food on display outside, or plastic food displays, but it does have an English menu, which often makes all the difference. Asakara has hundreds of restaurants and is a great area for bars, restaurants and shops - including a huge Bic Camera. D...on't expect miso or udon noodles here, Hashi-Maru (the name on the English menu) offers a range of exquisite dishes – each with subtle flavours and tastes and some a little more spicy than traditional Japanese food as the menu is inspired by Korean flavours. We ate here twice in May 2014 and had different dishes each time. We were not disappointed with the range, the flavours, the service, or the price. Hashi-Maru has reasonable wine, along with beer, whisky and saki, so most tastes are catered for. Diners can sit at the bar, at tables, or at an extended bar like a big shared table. No-one sits on the floor. Best of all, it's straight in off the street so you can see if there are customers inside. If there are two of you, choose at least four dishes. If that's not enough, simply order more – no-one is going to extent you to leave before you are ready. Accepts credit cards and the staff are very friendly. Loved it!
