“Great food in a lived in atmosphere.”
Almost got the tongue others have reviewed but went with a fish dish. Ample sides. Delicious. Cold beer. Spontaneously walked in because of the look of the place. Will grab lunch there again

“Never really enjoyed Tongue until I found this spot”
Eclectic, rustic, crowded with very tight uncomfortable seating but all worthwhile for the food and the ambiance. Owner is a hoot as well if you speak Japanese and frequent the establishment. And the Tongue Stew literally melts in your mouth (many jokes possible here but I'll refrain). For nov...ices I recommend that you just request a "course" of Tongue and local veggies. Always crowded and always lined up. Worth the wait. Don't come chewing gum as you may be turned away and don't ask for any seasoning changes, salt, pepper, and absolutely no soy sauce.

“It feels like home”
Very nice small restaurant, fast and accurate service and good food, especially the soba and frying.

“Boiled tongue that just melts in your mouth!”
This restaurant specializes in tongue and they do it well! Boiled tongue is their most poplar dish and it's served with a dab of wasabi. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, it's tender and slides down like buttah. The grilled tongue is pretty good and that comes with a side of pickles. Another great dish... is their stewed tongue, it's cooked in a rich brown sauce and served with slices of french baguette. There's also a miso based stewed tongue dish that that has bits of konjac cubes which tastes so authentically Japanese. Asides for tongue, they also serve pickled vegetables, grilled rice balls and broth. Reservations are highly recommend, there's never a night where this restaurant is not packed. Do keep in mind that this restaurant does not have an English menu nor do the staff speak in English. Another side note, the seating arrangements for this restaurant is not comfy at all, pretty tight quarters and if you are in a group of three or less then most likely you'll be sharing a tiny table with another party of three or less. However, the tongue dishes are like no other. Really worth the try.
