“Good, but limited menu and expensive”
This restaurant is located in a Victorian era house originally built for a foreigner to use as a vacation house. The building itself is impressive. This location used to be a good French restaurant, but a few years ago it was taken over by an Italian themed chain. A new hall was built in the old ...garden and is now used as a restaurant and wedding venue. The food is very good. The pizza is very close to authentic Italian. They use a wood burning pizza oven. The pasta I had was just a bit undercooked but tasty. Here is the problem. There are very few menu choices. Three or four pizza varieties and a similar number of pasta dishes. A green salad option, and a meat or fish entrée round out the menu. They offer a course menu which includes pizza or pasta, a main course, an antipasto and small desert for $90 per couple. To their credit, it does include a full sized pizza, and if both people choose pizza you can have two! The meat course, which cost an extra $10 was a single course to be shared. Rather stingy for the price. Wines consist of red, white or sparkling, and all three are priced at $45 per bottle. Again rather pricy for Italian table wine. All in all the food was good, and of high quality, but the lack of variety cost a star. Service was good, but no Italian or English spoken, and they had trouble understanding my broken Japanese. The menus are in Japanese only. Would I recommend it, conditionally. Its good food but expensive for the area. Maybe for special occasions but not on a regular basis.
