“Huge let down”
This place was such a letdown. I used to think that even the worst meal in Japan was better than any meal in my home country, and I was wrong. The food was extremely mid-tier, the conger eel appetizer was so rough and full of sharp bones, the beef was so ordinary for being “wagyu” and the service wa...s just awful. The servers were all cold and impersonal, it didn’t give me any sense of it being a high class restaurant and more like they just wanted to get us out of there. I also noticed a stark contrast between how we as tourists were treated vs their Japanese diners. It didn’t have to do with the language barrier, they speak English and I also speak some Japanese, but it was so obvious they treated the Japanese guest much better than us. For the amount we paid to eat here, it was the biggest let down of our trip. Would not reccomend.

“Great surprise!!”
At first sight the place looks simple, but then the food arrives and it is so good! Quality/price, a great option to choose in a street full of restaurants. Plus: it has a nice river view :)

“Kobe steak & sashimi ”
Beautiful night to sit outside along the river & enjoy a decadent dinner. Sashimi & Kobe steak came out minutes after ordering with a small grill that was assembled & lit on our table. The fish & Kobe were exceptional, like butter. A memorable special dinner in Kyoto.

“Very nice last Night in Kyoto”
We came across this restaurant wandering in Pontocho. Local Japanese restaurant with a very interesting menu. We ate some excellent sashimi and very good beef. The environment is amazing with a nice view of the river. Nice music and very intimate atmosphere for a couple. The prices are a little bit ...high but similar to many other places in Kyoto. The service is excellent. After some time we were the only client there and it felt very special.

“Too expensive for the quality served”
Medium food quality for small meat quantities and relatively expensive bill. Side dishes served long after the meat. Tea rice forgotten we needed to remind them to get them. Grilled pork not enough cooked: we requested them to grill them more and they made it. And as many places in Japan, staff can ...hardly understand and speak English even if they always try to help.
