Here in the Kibune area, there are many restaurants.'Nakayoshi' is relatively inexpensive. Summer in Kyoto is very hot, but Kibune is 5 degrees cooler than the rest of the city, and the kawadoko (a floor 50 cm above the river) restaurants are really cool, or even cold. You can put your feet on the r...iver from any table, so just book a kawadoko and you will be 100% satisfied.

This restaurant is very close to Kifune Shrine. They have only local Japanese food like Tofu, Yuba, Soba etc and the price is quite reasonable I guess.

I had Japanese style dinner literally ON the river with the sounds of river flows! The fish set and the tofu set both cost ¥3600. The food was OK, but the experience was unique! 在河流上吃晚餐！（或許該說是迷你瀑布？）潺潺流水聲的體驗實在是太特別了！魚套餐與豆腐套餐都是¥3600，餐點還OK而已，但是回憶很棒呀！

After completing the hike from Kurama we were excited to reach Kibune and try the kawadoka dining over the river for lunch. The location was easy to find...it's right along the river. The staff was very friendly and efficient. There are many places that offer kawadoka; the manager at Nakayoshi was... very encouraging and made us feel welcome even with our very limited Japanese. We opted for the "lighter" tofu lunch, which was huge with many small dishes to try. Everything was intricate and delicious, but not fussy. This was the less expensive option, but it was still a pricey lunch. Dining over the river was refreshing and unique. Worth every penny. My husband enjoyed the souvenir fans we received as well.

The restraunt sitting above the river is quiet and seats only 2 people X 2 table or like us 1 goup of 5, which is nice because it is more private. I saw some other Kawadoko where they have sit 5 - 10 people per river platform. It is also low enough to the river and away from the other platforms ...that you feel comfortable to dangle your bare feet into the water and they encourage it so you can enjoy the coolness during the hot Japan summer. The traditional kaiseki features the local fish and herbs/ vegtables which the adults in our group enjoyed with sake and plum wine. But if you have kids, I would suggest them you get them sukiyaki or order tempura seperately as my daugheter who loves japanese food but was not used to some of the herbal tastes of mountain vegtables and the local fish that has alot of small bones was not that much of a fan of those dishes but enjoyed the homemade tofu, sashimi and tempura dishes. The staff there was very kind and service was great. It was a great experience.
