“Long awaited return”
Kochan's is my favourite place to eat in Japan and I have been waiting to return since I had my farewell from there 12 years ago. What made it special was that we could bring our Children and it happened to be my son's 10th b-day. We had a great meal, the food was exactly as I remembered, it's more ...on the pricey side but well worth it. Such a fun we to eat great fresh protein and products. Highly recommended.

“Farewell dinner at Kochan's”
Vegetarians and gluten intolerant guests were well catered for, which was pleasing to see. For the rest of us, the entire menu was delicious. Nicest tofu I have ever had, not to mention the beef.

“Enjoyable and Entertaining Meal”
My partner and I reserved a spot at Kochan's Steak house Rapan in the evening at around 8pm. We ordered a course with steak and seafood stew. The meal was really very enjoyable. The hostess and chef were both very helpful, welcoming, and kind. The food itself was absolutely delicious, too. We... felt very well attended. The chef was engaging; we even compared our Pokemon Go collections. At one point we were given some free fried tofu with garlic after I won a Japanese Rock, Paper, Scissors contest against him. A very good natured meal. We had a great time, and definitely recommend this place. It is not hard to find, being a couple blocks from the nearby train station. The staff could communicate in English, and they also had English menus. The process was easy and relaxing.

“It's all about the beef”
We were taken to Kochan’s Steakhouse Rapan, known for it Kobe beef. The cab dropped us off and we had to walk down an alley to find the entrance. Then up a flight of stairs. And then we were there. There were 20 of us and we took up the entire restaurant. We sat in a semi-circle around the teppanya...ki grill. Most of the group ordered beer, but I wanted white wine. They brought over two bottles, none of which I recognized. So they gave me a generous taste of each. Once we all had our beer or wine, we could sit back and watch the show. And yes, it is a show. The chef practically juggles his knives and bowls as he cooks your dinner. We began with an appetizer of a small piece of beef and sashimi. This was followed by salad. Then vichyssoise. And then tofu. We eat a lot of tofu at home. But this was the best tofu I have ever had. And I told the chef. So he challenged me to a game of Paper, Rock Scissors and said if I win, I get more tofu. I said I’d rather have more beef. He laughed and said, “too expensive.” So we played. He won the first hand with rock over scissors. We tied on the second hand with two rocks. I won the third hand with paper over rock. Now we were tied. So one, two three and I won with paper over rock again. So he cooked more tofu for all of us. There was soup. There were vegetables. But of course you come for the Kobe beef. We had a choice of tenderloin or sirloin. The tenderloin is supposed to be more tender, but the sirloin more flavorful. How to decide? So my husband and I each got one and shared. He put the meat on the grill. He seasoned it. And the he set it on fire. He cut it into bite size pieces and placed it on our plates. The tenderloin was like butter and practically melted in my mouth. The sirloin was a bit fatty and not as good. I would stick with the tenderloin. There was garlic rice or garlic bread. There was dessert. But really, it is all about the beef. And the show. But really, the beef.
