very slaw staff , not worth it, i went in 11 am for breakfast , i had to wait to 12 to get in ! and wait another hour for the order to arrive!

The Original Pancake House is a small but renowned breakfast chain originating from the US, with the first location opening in 1953 in Oregon. There are now locations in several other countries, and this is one of 3 in Tokyo (and the most conveniently located unless you are going into the suburbs). ...For those wanting a taste of American breakfast, this is without a doubt one of the best options in the Shinjuku area. I went twice in June 2025 while in Japan for business, and in both instances arrived shortly after opening at 11 AM. Both times, I waited at least 1 hour to be seated. This is normal at many of the US branches of this chain as well (it's popular for a reason), but the Shinjuku location is smaller than most operations in the US, so it takes longer than frequent customers may be used to. A ticket-based number system is used, but you have to stay nearby to hear when your number is called. Once inside, service is reasonably prompt, with most of the wait being for food items which take longer to prepare. The standout items I ordered were the Dutch Baby / German Pancake (a large, light, almost hat-shaped item served with powdered sugar and lemon) and the unique-to-Japan 'Fluffy Pancake' (which is a light, puffed-up pancake with cream in the center). Both were very good. If you're not already familiar with the chain, get the Dutch Baby; if you've been to other locations, you should try the 'Fluffy Pancake' to get a taste of a unique menu item. One pancake order is more than enough for one person. While this is not a place to go if you're in a hurry, if you really want to treat yourself to breakfast, you cannot do better than here. Check it out and bring your appetite!

Mixed review. 1) I’ll start with the good. I got the pancakes with caramel syrup and banana. They were nice and light had mascarpone. We’re pretty tasty. Had them with the side of bacon interestingly enough the bacon in Japan taste more like ham just FYI if you don’t like ham, don’t get the bacon a...nd sausages taste like hotdog in Japan. I like ham so it worked. Everything was very good with my meal. My review will be “goo” versus very good as overall there were misses. 2) My wife, got a strawberry pancakes if you look at the visual of them look yummy but they weren’t really tasty. The strawberry sauce didn’t really taste like strawberries and overall it was not a good selection. Again, they looked great but didn’t taste great. 3) My son got the pancake plate, which was OK, but had this side of wilted salad that was inexplicable to be served with pancakes , who serves wilted salad with pancakes ? They didn’t say it came with it. everything else was OK but not wow. We waited about half hour to get into it. The people next to us somebody had the Apple pancakes, which looks much better so I would say get those and get what I got with the caramel banana.

Worth the wait! Be mindful of dining hours as this spot doesn't open until 11am. We came back in the late afternoon for an early dinner and waited less than 5 minutes to be seated. The service was quick and the food was AMAZING! The food was a bit pricey for breakfast but it is definitely worth the ...trip.

Excellent places for brunch. The service is somewhat slow, but it is rewarded with the quality of the food they prepare. It's definitely a place you have to go, before leaving Japan.
