A must stop for me and my family they serve Okinawan dishes like somen (noodle Stir fry) champuru, mozuku (sea weed) tempura one of the longevity foods, Traditional Okinawan pork Rafute , goya (bitter melon ) champuruu another longevity food and deep fried pork and fried fish guruku local delicacy. T...hey do have English menu and they do have a upstairs dinning area with a show performance of traditional music. they accept credit cards. location is on Kokusai street closer to Makishi Monorail station.

“Great experience for Okinawa local food and folk songs”

Chanced upon this charming restaurant along Kokusaidori when our tour bus off a Princess Cruise dropped us off at Makishi Park just around the corner. The menu on the easel outside of the restaurant has all the dishes recited by the ship port expert: Goya Champuru, Okinawa Soba, Rafute and the loca...l bear Orion. All worth sampling, the bitter goya, the tender soft port with attached well-soften tendon and especially Raute, that is very similar to a special Taiwanese pork stew, best tasting lean meat and port fat, yummy. Orion is light, even I can handle it. We also sampled Umibudo (the sea grape), another Okinawa special, that we saw on one NHK shows. It has basically no taste, but worth a try. We also tried the deep fried Gurukun fish, not bad. The store-front plaque indicates that there are island folk songs and local food (in Japanese). The menu easel at the door shows same information. We were greeted by a receptionist at the door, who spoke little English, but showed us a huge card with English writing, indicating that there is live performance on the second floor with a $800 for a cover charge + a small appetizer. We opted for it. We got there about 5:30pm, there were not too many customers yet. We were seated at the back row of the front section. Later we discovered that basically all the seats in the front section were reserved by groups an d there are only three or four tables for two. The tables are the traditional very short table on tatami mats. That to my dismay is quite a bit rough on my old back bone. However, I found there is a stack of seat-backs at the back wall of the dining room. I grabbed two, one each for my wife and me. That saved the evening. If you have a group of 6-8, you could probably reserve or request seating in the back section. Those seats have a pit under the tables for legs. By and by, the dining hall were full. A group from mainland Japan sat next to us. They were quite fascinated by us two Asians with limited command of Japanese language and came far away from the U.S. We were able to enjoy and communicate with the group with the help of a lot of hand gestures. The performance started at 7:00pm. The evening turned out to be quite enjoyable. The food was nothing to write hand about, but a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

“Traditional Okinawan Food”

My wife, sister-in-law and I enjoyed dinner at this traditional restaurant, very close to our hotel. My first Okinawa food and I was interested in trying new things. We were shown to a table, took off our shoes and put our feet inside a well under the table. I am not very flexible and found it extre...menly difficult to get out of, after our meal was over. Seems like no conventional tables available. We were offered dinner wih a show, but we were a few hours early for the show, so it wasn't accepted. We ordered a local drink, but it was very watery and had little taste, one was juice and the other drink and there was little difference. We shared our meals including Fu Chanpuru, Jimamidofu, Mozuku Tempura and Yomogi Zosui. They were all delicious and we al enjoyed the meal. The price was quite reasonable. Highly recommened for dinner.

We found this place on Kokusai Dori, and it was a great introduction to Okinawan food! We had gurukuun (deep fried fish), mozuku (seaweed) tempura, jimami tofu, Okinawa soba, umibudou (sea grapes), and champuru. It was all so great!! We also drank sanpin cha. We're even thinking of going again befor...e we leave :-)
