I must admit, whilst on a tight schedule and heading for 'home', I wasn't expecting much from Juan. With it's unfussy name, it sounded like a tex-mex fast food concession on a public transit concourse. How wrong I was! Juan is a 'proper' Japanese shoes-off establishment with lovely decor, tatami ma...ts, and traditionally-robed staff. It was quite a surprise, and the best kind. They do have traditional low-level seating, but most of the restaurant has Western-style chairs & tables. The restaurant was near to closing, so we promised the delightful staff we'd be quick and chose a couple of dishes at random. Hence, I am at a loss to tell you exactly what we ate, but it was wonderful. The food was beautifully presented, tasty, and contained several things I could not recognise. Between my appalling Japanese, and the servers patient sign language and limited English, we managed to work out what most of it was. All I can say is that both our meals were an absolute visual and gastronomic delight. A lovely, traditional restaurant with wonderful staff and excellent food.

We were try to make an reservation for dinner with another well known shabu-shabu restaurant, but it’s fully booked. As a result, we googled and can to Juan. Surprisingly, it’s shabu shabu is also good; the pork and the vegetable are very tasty. At the end using the soup to cook rice and/or noodles ...are delicious. Glad to find this place.

Food: High quality black pork dishes! Ordered a shabu shabu set with 6 different salts and a black pork cutlet set. Both sets were absolutely stunning and delicious (the pork cutlet was even better than another famous tonkatsu restaurant that I visited the other day). Services: all the staff are ver...y polite and friendly with smiles on their faces all the time. There's an Eng shabu shabu guide which sets out the proper way to do shabu shabu, yet they've also tried their very best to explain every dish to us (in either Jap or Eng). Environment: very beautiful Jap style restaurant Price: Reasonably priced. Shabu shabu sets were around 3000-4200 yen while pork cutlet sets cost less than 3000 yen. Location: very close to Chuo station so it's very convenient. Parking lots also available for driving customers. Conclusion: Highly recommended to pork lovers. Will definitely come back again!

3 of us went there to have pork shabu shabu dinner. When seating in a private room, it really let us more relax to taste the delicious food. We ordered 2 set of shabu shabu and ordered 2 more plate of pork in addition for 2 adults and 1 kid. The pork was soft and taste really good even we didn't ad...d too much seasoning provided. The staff was nice and the service was good. I will recommend people who visited Kagoshima to have meal here.
