Many dishes available from sashimi to yakitori and grill fish as well as other cooked dishes to accompany drinking and having good time with friends or family. Order was made by tablet but for unknown reason the system took wrong order quantity. A small glitch that did not bother our group from havi...ng good food and beer together.

We left without eating here on our first attempt since we were not able to get a booth. Our second time we make sure a booth was available before entering. As before, touts at the door escorted us in. We ditched our shoes in the shoe safety lockers and scurried to follow the little orange-rain-co...ated girl who intercepted us in the entrance. Rather than zaishiki style seating, we have a perfectly normal booth with a long table that would sit six comfortably, eight in a pinch. The girl nervously watched us seat ourselves. When we grabbed the picture menus and began flipping through as if we knew what we were doing, she was relieved and retreated, sliding shut the door and leaving us to the “private dining” that is the speciality of the house. After we made our choices we tried to find the bell to call the waitress. We finally had to open the door and look for a waitress who came at once and showed us where the button is. She took our order and disappeared. Food began to show up soon, first beer. The rest of the order arrives piecemeal. First there’s a daikon salad identical to what we had at the Shirokiya the other night, except it’s dressed with shavings of some fish and not the little tiny fish we saw in the menu. Then octopus balls, deep fried puffs with one bit of octopus per, plus generous shavings of bonito which continue to squiggle and move in air currents, making the dish, though lathered in brown sauce, look alive. Some yam sticks – yam chunks bound in a batter with seaweed flecks – prove very good indeed. And we get a bizarre omelet filled with a sort of Rice-a-Roni mixture of fried rice and noodles. It all proves very good. Very expensive for us, too – including a cover of ¥210 per, it comes to about ¥2600. We find freebie candies at the checkout here to just like at Shirokiya. We ate here again the following night because there were so many wonderful choices. We go and doff shoes and are shown to an ordinary booth. Ask specifically for zaishiki and are shown to one of those, unfortunately, it turns out to be the modern, lazy sort where one sits on a zabuton on a tatami but with a well under the table for legs. We get a good meal of hot Okinawa gyoza, the house chicken steak special, asparagus wrapped in bacon, fisherman’s potato salad, and salad greens with dried plums. Have also a couple of beers. The chicken is a bit less exciting than we’d expected. There’s a gimmick with the Okinawa gyoza – they are indeed made spicy but in addition one of your half dozen will contain a super-hot Okinawa red pepper. Wife unfortunately gets it on her first bite and very nearly burns her mouth out. Pay up, this time over ¥2,800. Would we return a third time? Maybe. Though we found a local small restaurant family run around the corner that we also enjoyed. Can’t review it here - can’t find it listed and can’t read Japanese.
