“Nice food and atmosphere ”
Lively place, with the down stay taken up by a large group of young Japanese. We were upstairs and the place had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Food was really tasty. Pizza and Paella were really nice and they had decent red wine (Montes). Enjoyed the service, vibe, food and decor.

“Nice restaurant with interesting interior and good food”
This is a place that you must see form the inside. There were very interesting old walls and ceiling and the floor was old stone floor. We ordered small portions but they were excellent.

“Trendy Italian style restaurant in the heart of Kagoshima”
This is a restaurant with a small frontage in a small laneway, you are immediately taken in by the ancient-looking wooden door. The staff are friendly, but have little English. The decor inside is striking, with a brick floor (looks like the wall of a house), elaborate metal panels on the walls, t...hey look to me as though they were salvaged from some metal container. The tables and chairs are wooden, and look to be antique. The lighting is dim. The menu is in Japanese only, however there are pictures to help non-Japanese speakers out. You can order a dish that is similar to spaghetti bolognese, and similar pasta dishes, as well as something that looks like a cross between a foccacia and a slice of pizza. We ordered the spag bog dish, and a bowl of vegetables. The vegetables came in a heavy iron bowl, which was very hot, the vegetables inside were superbly cooked. The spag bog was very good. Our final dish also came in a metal bowl, it was small pieces of savoury beef on top of a bed of Japenese rice, with vegetables. This was also superb, the rice was also savoury and very tasty. The menu also includes other, more traditional Japanese dishes, as well as some meat only dishes. My impression is that this restaurant is popular with young Japanese intellectuals, based on the people who were there. The only downside is that there were a lot of people smoking, which is hard to take for two non-smokers from Australia, where smoking in restaurants was banned years ago. However smoking in restaurants in Japan is common :).
