This relaxed but, quality restaurant has got everything going for it. Truly pleasant and helpful staff. Relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere with, unusual and fabulously tasty food. Not what l expected at the top of a department store but... superb! A must!

I went to the restaurant on 12 Aug,2015. I ordered the recommended dinner set. The appetizer had cuttlefish and tomato. The tomato was really yummy, it was like a square-shape jelly. Then I had potato salad and baked egg. The egg was carefully cooked and it was nice! Mentaiko Coquette was cri...spy outside and a bit spicy inside. Mentaiko was spicy cod fish roe, I like it very much! For the main dish, I chose the Kinako pig. I really didn't know how delicious the Kagoshima pig was, wow, it was really good! The signature Mentaiko (a whole one) was served with the rice. The rice was perfectly cooked for more than 40 minutes. The miso soup was okay and the dessert, tofu pudding was yummy! The service was really good and it's not pricey. Worth to try!

We were looking forward to trying this in-the-moment local eatery to discover why they have been ranked No. 1 restaurant in JR Hakata City for so long, and why there's always a long queue out during lunch. To avoid queuing, we came for a late lunch at 2pm - no wait at all. The restaurant was still... busy with diners and some items were sold out. We ordered an egg omelette set and an oxtail stew set. The egg omelette was out-of-this-world fragrant and oozing with savoury juices. They are very proud of the rice they serve, which is topped with their signature fish roe, mentaiko. If only the queues were not so long, we would love to visit this restaurant again, and again, and ....
