“Very good local specialties and Shabu Shabu.”
This place was recommended to us by Japanese friends and we now understand why they like it so much. It is worth while to take the large combination menu and not only the Shabu Shabu since the accompanying tapas style small dishes present many of the local specialties. Of these specialties perhaps t...he raw chicken is a bit daring, but we didn't get sick. I liked very much the Satsuma-age, that are deep-fried slightly sweet balls of minced fish and sake. The Shabu Shabu was served with meat from the local kurobuta pork. The kibinago sashimi, tiny shiny fish, are also very good. In addition to the menu we also had some pork skewers and tempura that are also recommended. They have a nice selection of very good shochu, which showed that the good reputation of the Kagoshima shochu is justified. I couldn't read the names of the ones I tried but took a picture of the menu and some of the bottles.

“Expert in Satsuma local cuisine”
I think I'm the one that didn't try their miso oden here, theirs most favorite food. Their Satsuma local cuisine like 串焼 黒豚バラ和地鶏焼(BBQ black pork & chicken) r very good, 卵かけご飯(egg over rice) r excellent, さつまあげ(fried fish cake) r very good too & 吾愛人オリジナル焼酎ラベル(Kuma shochu mistress original label) r t...he best shochu i ever have in Japan(my taste). I like 黒豚のそぼろ 出し巻 (egg roll w black pork) most, this kind of cooking r my dream food. Those dishes cost my 2210yen, average in Japan.

“Disappointing”
This is actually one street closer to the station than the map shows It is mentioned in Lonely Planet. The menu looked pretty standard. I ordered oden, a standard winter dish. When it came it was pretty ordinary and wasn't cheap. The beer, though was nice and cold and served in a stainless steel v...acuum tankard. Tasted good. On the basis of the cost and standard, I moved on. There are much classier establishments nearby with better value and surroundings
