“A superb eating experience”
Very quiet and cozy place. The menu is well-thought with a balance of ingredients reflecting local specialties. Fugo is delicious. Great service.👍👍👍

“ Below average”
Service is good but all the dishes come so fast. We asked them to slow down but the waitress keep asking us whether they can serve the next dish. Price vs quality is horrible. They served plain rice with pickles. This is the first Kaiseki restaurant that served plain rice rather than rice with e...el, fish or ikura. Not worth any star. Can skip.

“The Food like an art piece”
Make reservation of this restaurant is a bit complicated, as we have to book thru the hotel if you cannot speak Japanese. But we would like to share that the dinner is go good, the sake is very good, too. Each dish of dinner is like an art piece with very decent decoration. The sashimi is really fre...sh and everything are so good! We are go full at the end and it is great to let us walk back to our office ... If possible, i prefer to have a private room as currently, we are having a share room which is a bit crowded.

“Rather good food, unfortunately wasn't what we expected”
With 3 michelin stars, we thought we'd go for the best they had to offer. We picked the most expensive option, 25000JPY omakase per person. For that we had 8 dishes, including rice and miso soup, and the best course -jelly in a mandarin orange with a big bump unique to Japan. Some food was quite exq...uisite. And there was puffer fish sashimi. Very good service. But really, 3 star is more than one too many.

“Not worthy of its 3 Michelin stars ”
Shortly before my trip to Fukuoka, Sagano was awarded 3 Michelin stars. The concierge of Hotel Nikko helped us to make a dinner reservation for 2. My friend and I had high expectations but we ended up disappointed. The food was traditional kaiseki cuisine. There're about 9 dishes (including a fe...w appetisers, sashimi, grilled conger eel, steamed egg custard, Japanese mushrooms, rice with Japanese pickles and miso soup and 2 kinds of expensive Japanese grapes as dessert). All dishes were beautifully presented and immaculately prepared. While some of them were quite successful, others tasted a bit bland. It's by no means a bad dinner. Just that I hoped for more given the 3- Michelin starred status of the restaurant. The restaurant was very quite on the night we went. We had a booth in the main dining room and there're only 2 other customers. The service couldn't be faulted. The ladies who wore kimonos were friendly, attentive and were always only a few steps away whenever we needed them. That should be the case considering it's a high end restaurant and we needed to pay a hefty 20% service charge. To conclude, Sagano wasn't on the same level as other Michelin starred kaiseki restaurants which I'd tried in for example Sapporo and Osaka.
