Despite its downfall in the U.S., Tony Roma in Japan is very much alive and seemingly doing well. We all know what Tony Roma’s is (it’s the place for ribs), so I won’t spend a lot of on the details of the menu, which you can take a gander at for yourself, but of course Tony Roma’s is the restaurant ...chain famous for American fare. The menu does have a lot more than ribs, but I don’t know why you would order anything else. We ordered an onion loaf , and each a plate of ribs in the “Roma Rack size.” The “Roma Rack” turned out to be much larger than expected, and if you are not super hungry two people could probably share it, or get one size smaller. The ribs were tender and delicious just as I remember. The restaurant, which is nestled below Hard Rock Café in Roppongi (and is apparently the chain’s first overseas location), has the original Tony Roma’s décor, but everything (including the menus) is starting to feel a bit worn. Service was prompt and friendly, and overall it was a good (albeit a bit pricey) experience. Worth a visit if you’re hankering for that American chain restaurant experience, and of course some ribs.

Late afternoon on a hot Sunday, wanted to revisit a haunt of mine from decades ago on this holiday. After watching sport at a pub up the road, had to give it a try. Well, time has not stood still and it has certainly not improved what was vibrant and exciting venue, and frankly it was a huuuuge ...disappointment. Then menu lacks variety and options, and the staff by Japanese standards were unprofessional and brusque. We played safe and ordered ribs, not wanting to overorder for a couple of oldies and got the small 3 ribs and ordered different sides; the green beans and the baked potato. Food came with coleslaw, an apology for a dish in a tiny bowl of 2 forkfuls. The beans were soggy and smothered in garlic. The potato.......well......Japan doesn't do potatoes well at the best of times, but this thing was only 3/4 cooked and there was zilch seasoning and what butter there was would have fit on a 100 yen coin. Don't even think about there being sour cream. The ribs were good, but hey, if they can't get those right, then they truly would be gone by now. Ribs aren't hard to cook. As for the wine..........I don't drink water, but wish I had. Yes, we went for the ribs, but it's about the whole experience. I'm not giving it a 1 as that would mean it was inedible or the staff were rude, neither of which apply, but it really was awful and a 2 flatters it.

I have not been at Tony Roma in Tokyo for many years, but the service and the food is still very, very nice. On top of this it is not so expensive.

Tony Roma's is a popular name when it comes to baby back ribs barbecue. Located in Minato City, Roponggi, right in the heart of Tokyo, this restaurant serves authentic American food. The baby back ribs they're serving is tender, juicy, and has just the right amount of smoke in each bite. Not to ment...ion the price is so right and leaves you feeling satisfied.

Wife and I were in Roppongi and stumbled into this resto. Walked in, ordered the "world famous" ribs. Wifey ordered some salad with fried chicken wings. Wife's orders were quite OK, except for the chicken wings having too much sauce to it. My ribs were less than OK. I could not believe Tony Roma's r...ibs could be so bad. The sauce is too sour, unflavourful and meat has no taste. Only the sauce gave some taste to the meat on the ribs but that also spoilt by bad lousy sauce. There are so many places with good tasty ribs. Any amateur also can make better ribs than them.
