“It is the second oyster bar in the world, following the original in New York, which was established in 1913.”
The main restaurant was established in 1913 in the train station of Grand Central Station, the gateway to Manhattan in New York City. With over 100 years of history and worldwide recognition, it is the most famous landmark restaurant in the U.S. and is bustling with activity every day. In Japan, the... Shinagawa branch opened in Shinagawa Station as the world's second restaurant. In a restaurant that recreates the atmosphere of the main store in New York, you can always enjoy more than 10 kinds of fresh oysters and a wide variety of dishes using fresh seafood, which is highly recommended!

“Not the original, but an interesting copy”
The Grand Central Oyster bar of Tokyo Station has a nearly identical decor and ambiance to the oyster bar in the NYC Grand Central Station. The menu is VERY similar as well. The food and wine, however, do have differences. Some wines by the glass were significantly inferior to their NYC counterp...arts (except for Mumms champagne at a quite reasonable price), but the list of bottles was more interesting (alas, we didn't want a full bottle). Our server recommended the Iwagaki Haruke oyster, which was really good, better than the selections I've had in NY. The New England clam chowder was a disappointment, bland with not many pieces of clam. However, the rare blue fin tuna was excellent. So overall a good reproduction of the NYC Oyster Bar but with a Tokyo twist.

“Excellent selection of fresh or cooked oysters”
The Grand Central Oyster Bar is on the B1 level of the Tokyo Main Railway Station. Every day they offer at least four to five different fresh oysters on the half shell from different places in Japan. We visited twice and we ordered ten fresh oysters each. Compared to what you get in Europe or the U....S. they were just huge! Needless to say they were also very fresh, suculent and nicely briny. The were also inexpensive at around U.S. $ 3 a piece. They served them with three topings/sauces: Yuso with vinegar, apple with vinegar and a hot chilly compote. Unlike most other restaurants, that only serves wine by the bottle, the Oyster Bar also serves wine by the glass which was great. The had three choices, a Savignon Blanc, a Chardoney and a Merlot (about $5 per glass). Service was very good and the waiter even spoke a bit of English. Highly recommended!

“Oysters”
Great location and food, staff were friendly and helpful, but in true Japanese style after you order the food is brought to the table when it is ready, our starters arrived last. So if you are looking for a you all receive your starters, then mains, traditional western style dinner experience, then... I recommend that you only eat in the hotel restaurants. If you are happy with it being a real mish mash with exceptional seafood, then give this a try.

“From NY”
This is a branch from the NY restaurant. Dropped by as i was craving raw oysters. Ordered them together with a set lunch - carpaccio, clam chowder , risotto The design is interesting as there is an actual oyster bar with counter seats. Lots of different types of oysters to gawk at Food arrived at ...lightning speed and was ok. The waiter forgot my oyster order and had to be reminded. a simple and cheap lunch about 3,500yen
