駒形前川 浅草本店

We had a sudden craving for Unaju and we stopped off at Asakusa on our way home. We tried a couple of restaurants which is famous for Unagi, but 1pm on Saturday, there was a long line of people waiting in front of each restaurant. We were about ready to give up, luckily found this restaurant near ...the Sumida River and they could take us in. This one has a seating capacity of 90 so they could take walk-in customers easier than the other small restaurants. We'd enjoyed juicy and tender Unaju with the view of Sumida river through the windows. The only drawback was... the rooms are all in Japanese style, set low tables in tatami rooms, and I found myself getting uncomfortable after a while.

Poor attitude and service. Throws chopsticks onto the table as we sat down, even spilled green tea onto our bags as it was being served.

This place is awful from the food to the service. While the view of the river is ok it does not make up for rude waitresses who are unskilled in the art of serving and the poor quality of the food. Unagi was medium quality at best and the kimosui (the traditional Unagi liver soup served with the mea...l) was actually bad. Some of the sushi on the sushi plate was still frozen and so bad that we could not even finish it. All guests were tourists, no Japanese would ever go here. Overall this is a tourist trap catching tourists who don't know any better and am disappointed that we even went . Suggest not giving them your business.

The restaurant is located by the river Sumida and is specialized in unagi or grilled eel. If you want to eat a real good Japanese grilled eel you should not go to a gorgeous 1st class restaurant. It is recommendable, at least in Tokyo, to chose an old fashion Unagi restaurant which is not necessaril...y good looking from outside. This one is perhaps somewhere in between and you will have to sit on Tatami floor on a cushion, which can be rather tiring if you are not used to it, i.e. you might get pins and needles. But the unagi they serve is excellent. They say the fish they cook are all originated from Japan. These unagis were not so fat and grilled well that it was also a bit crispy. The food they serve is not overpriced in my opinion as unagis these days in Japan, if they are from Japan and not imported from other countries, getting rare. The view from the restaurant is fantastic and you can also enjoy your after meal walk at the riverside.

Eel dishes restaurant which has long history in Japan. You can enjoy traditional and authentic eel dish course. For me, taste so so. The view from this restaurant is excellent. 鰻の専門店。古典的で本格的な鰻料理を楽しめます。わたし的には味はまぁまぁかな。でもレストランから眺めるスカイツリーは絶景でした。
