“Approach with caution ”
We visited with a group of thirteen on a tour, for a meal paid for in advance by the travel company. Many people enjoyed their dinner of fish dishes. We are vegetarian, and the travel company had failed to inform the restaurant far ahead, so our rep phoned them six hours ahead, but they said we cou...ld not change the menu, but we could choose from the a la carte. The only vegetarian item was a salad, so we ordered one each, and they arrived with beans in, to which I am allergic, and they had been notified. They then produced one portion of cream cheese, together with three crackers, between the two of us. Our third course was plain noodles for my wife and plain rice for me. Our travelling companions enjoyed their five or six courses during this time, although of course we did not take the food we had paid for in advance. After such a poor meal, it was therefore disappointing to be presented with a further request for ¥2600 which we were required to pay for the a la carte food we had eaten. I understand that Japanese restaurants take great pride in their food, and it is awkward to change menus. However this restaurant completely let us down and then charged us well for the privilege. I feel the management failed completely. If they were unable to feed us they should have declined to do so, and certainly not charged us twice.
