Their location is not convenient; but it’s a must visit. They utilized one of those very traditional house and they have a good view because they are located at the top of Kamakura yama. Services are wonderful and the quality was reliable. We picked JPY 13,000 for a dinner course with drinks. Their ...glass wine was better than expectation and the Japanese sake was very good we learned that it was Ichinokura, one of the fantastic Japanese sakes.

Roastbeef Kamakurayama is a quiet, high-end, course menu restaurant with a big garden on Kamakurayama. I have only eaten dinner here a few times and usually on special occasions. It runs about 100 USD - 250 USD per person for dinner not including drinks. Reservations are required. Like most hig...h end japanese restaurants, they are very careful to make every part of the course memorable. I enjoyed every minute of my dining experience and the delicious wagyu roast beef was so tender and flavorful. Depending on the course you choose, you might be surprised at the small portion of roast beef you receive. If you are coming especially for roast beef, choose a course with a larger portion. Know before you go: When I visited, there were no english speaking staff. There is an english website though so you can look over what you want before you go. They have a dress code like most nice restaurants in Japan- long pants and collared shirts for men,..no t-shirts and shorts- ladies use your best common sense and judgement. I brought my kids here for a family reunion but if your kids are energetic and rambunctious you may not be able to enjoy your meal. It is very serene and quiet and there are mostly couples, or grown families. The restaurant has parking but be warned it is not the easiest place to find. It is off the main road on Kamakurayama, nestled in an area that is primarily houses. If you come by train, you MUST take a taxi. You can take a 10-15 minute cab ride from Ofuna or Kamakura but the NEAREST station is the Shonan-monorail station Shonan-Fukusawa or Nishi-Kamakura.

Ah , Roast beef ...... sashimi and French Onion soup and the works that makes eating and feasting a joy for the discerning palates .I return here for a few time whenever I am in Tokyo and although it is up the hill , taking a Taxi will not cost you a bomb to have a wonderful lunch here in such a res...taurant that has a long waiting list if you do not reserve early . The food ....nothing to say .....just dig in .Burppp ....

Like any good authentic Japanese restaurant, English is not spoken here. Reservation is required and they have a dress code. No shorts or anything too casual. Costs around US$100,- per person excluding drinks. Stay away from their house wine, extremely disappointing. Kamakurayama is not accessible ...via public transport as it's located on the hill, quite a distance from the city center. You will need to arrange your own transport. The restaurant compound itself is worth visiting. Old Japanese mansions with wooden sliding doors, that opens to a Japanese style garden. We ordered the roast beef set menu, which came with an assortment of seasonal sashimi and fried baby ayu. As fresh as you can get. The scallop came still attached to its shell. The waiter showed us a bowl full of live baby ayu before returning to the kitchen to fry it. "French" onion soup came next, topped with a very small chunk of cheese. Nothing special. The wagyu roast beef that came after was the highlight of the meal (hence the restaurant name). Cooked to perfection. With plenty of fat that melted easily. Comes with a choice of consomme or garlic sauce. Probably the best roast beef I've had in my life. Dessert tray came too late after the main course. We waited at least 15 minutes after the main course. Pretty good honey pudding and strawberry short cake. All things considered, aside from their house red wine and slow service, I really enjoyed their roast beef. Would return.

It is so disappoint for me, I am calling to make a reservation, but the Receptionist speak English to told me no one can speak English there! And tell me speak Japanese. Then travel advisor should not showing this Resturant in international page !
