Stylish izakaya underground in Minami-Aoyama. Despite having a private "snow house" room, the groups on both sides of us were so loud that conversation was difficult. Food was good, of course, excellent sashimi, there were some "Japanese Fusion" surprises on the menu, such as asparagus, and the dess...erts were excellent. One rings for an server, service was somewhat slow. Seems to be a branch of an older establishment with the same name in Shinkuju, google maps might mislead you, so be careful about the address, not much at street level to identify this place. With good saki and some shochu to conclude, expect to spend about $100 per person.

I had seen photos of the interior design before and heard the food was amazing and i'm pleased to say it didn't disappoint in either way. From past experience I have found some 'high end' restaurants in Japan perhaps aren't the best for vegetarians as they often (understandably) concentrate of sea-f...ood dishes but this place had a fine selection of meat-free dishes as well as wines. Service was first rate, attentive but not obtrusive. Definitely an ideal destination for a "special occasion" as it isn't cheap albeit certainly good value for the quality of the food. Or better still would be perfect for a romantic meal as there are three curtained-off private dining booths. As we went early evening we were lucky enough to get one even though we hadn't reserved. This is a beautiful establishment serving food of an equally high standard and I would certainly go there again.
