Dynamic Kitchen ＆ Bar 響 風庭 赤坂

This is not the quiet Kaiseki restaurant with no sign. This is big and bold and a bit noisy. Located in large office building next to the US Embassy, it is less serene and more New York, but the lobby is stunning; the service is excellent, and the food while sometime uneven is delicious. The priv...ate rooms are a lot of fun.

We booked a small private room for dinner. The food was great, though a little pricey. Service was perfect.

Mediocre service and food, sad decor and noisy "private" dining room where we had to speak loudly because of the the neighbours' shouts. In one word, avoid this place.

In a city that prides itself on some of the best eating in the world, I was genuinely surprised by this restaurant. It is a "brand" restaurant that seeks to promote the whisky of the same name as I understand it. It is intended to be "izakaya" style auberge food. Good, solid, comfort cooking to a hi...gh standard. The atmosphere is fairly soulless and the service adequate but not as thoughtful as one comes to expect (and this is a very high standard) in Japan. If one was visiting Japan for the first time, this would not be representative of the excellence attainable in many cheaper restaurants. Probably one to miss, in my view.

This restaurant is popular with the U.S. Embassy crowd because its right next door and the prices reflect the clientele. It is good for groups since they will work with you to pre-order, avoiding lengthy delays. The food, however, is average. I had tuna sashimi and it was just ok. Portions are f...airly small. I do not recommend this restaurant unless you want a convenient place for a group lunch.
