老辺餃子舘 新宿別館

The front desk recommended this resto because he ate there before, liked it, and close by to the hotel. Being a Chinese resto, we ordered 7 dishes and ate family-style. We ate twice-cooked pork, chix, duck, fish, mapo tofu, and fish besides rice and tea. The taste was very good. The price even be...tter. The problem arose when it came time to pay. The manager would not accept 4 credit cards, one from each couple -- only one card was their policy. There was a quarrel and he threatened to call the police. After paying our share in cash (~$8/pp) we scurried out, down the 3 floors. I took the stairs and saw 2 policemen coming up. And I thought the manager was bluffing. Could have had an incident!

We visited the Rouben Gyozakan on a Wednesday evening as a group of 5 persons. After a cold reception, we were guided to a smaller room, where already some chinese people were dining. The first waitress could not speak a single word english, such that a different waiter was necessary for the order.... This would not be any problem, but the second waiter was extremely impolite and showed us, that tourists are not welcome in this place. After the arrival of a new chinese group of people in the same room, we were totally ignored, also when we pressed the order bell. The food overall was ok, but extremly expensive in comparison to other restaurants around this place and steamed rice was not included in the order and we were also not informed about this, such that we had to order the rice, after the meat already arrived.

This Restaurant was just terrible. First the waiters were racist and extremly unfriendly. They also laughed about because they didn't understand us when we talked in english with them. Then the chef waiter was totally annoid of our presence and so he always yawnd and snuffeld when he had to pick up ...our orders for eating. I can't recommend this restaurant. Food was ok.
