“Never again”
I was walking around very hungry in Shibuya and for some reason ended up in this restaurant! Afterwards I regretted it because I was over 8000 yen poorer and frustrated because of the bad taste of the food I got. I had to force to eat! It was my first sashimi in Japan and I was like "Seriously? I th...ought all sashimi in Japan is good.." But no! It was frustrating. Then I got the fried chicken and even the look of it was unpalatable. They also charged 800 yen as a cover charge of the little appetizer that I couldn't eat because I don't eat red meat – well they brought cold potatoes instead. Luckily the wine was moderately good. It was around 6 o'clock when I got in the restaurant and the place was empty, except for two people. Should have known better! What bothered me as well was that there was a bit of weird atmosphere. The idle staff was just around and it felt like you were in the middle of everything and under everyone's eyes. Never again! Well lesson learned: I will certainly be more careful with my dinner choices despite the stomach rumbling!

“Again Perfect Again Perfect Again Perfect”
Shunju NEVER disappoints me. Dassai sake is my preferred choice. Tonight we had a fish fois gras (ankimo) in ponzu sauce, a tendon with shrimp patty wrapped in nori and fried (great?), wonderful hot oyster cooked in yuzu, and more. Outstanding.

“Consistently one of the best Izakayas in Tokyo”
I usually start with a dry sake with assortment of chinmi or small delicacies, and go to the seasonal tofu. This time Shunju served a warm tofu with Sakura flower - beautiful. Definitely book a table before going. Located next to Bunkamura.

“Modern Izakaya like meal”
We ate at Shunju on our first night in Japan. The food and atmosphere was great. I made a reservation and we were able to sit at a great table in the corner in back. We were able to eat at our own pace and each dish was great.
